The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has strengthened its consumer protection efforts by blocking six additional illegal online gambling websites.

This enforcement action targets platforms operating in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. The newly blocked sites—Eddy Vegas, Lucky Friends, Lucky Ones, MoonWin, Slottie, and SpinsUP—join a growing list of platforms deemed non-compliant with Australian gambling laws.

Since implementing website-blocking measures in November 2019, ACMA has successfully blocked 1,117 illegal gambling and affiliate websites. Additionally, over 220 illegal services have voluntarily exited the Australian market since 2017 due to ACMA’s ongoing crackdown.

Key Concern: ACMA warns of the risks associated with unlicensed gambling sites, which often lack crucial consumer protections. Users engaging with such platforms may face significant financial risks, including losing their funds without any recourse.

To safeguard consumers, ACMA advises verifying the legitimacy of online gambling services via its official register of licensed operators. This proactive step aims to prevent financial harm and protect individuals from fraudulent activities.

ACMA’s website provides further resources, including information on online gambling regulations, tips for avoiding scams, and guidance on lodging complaints against illegal sites.
