Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $201 Million for Upcoming Drawing
The Powerball jackpot remains unclaimed, soaring to over $200 million for the next drawing.
On Wednesday, Powerball’s jackpot stood at an estimated $185 million, with a cash option of $92 million. Despite the efforts of millions of players nationwide, no one matched all the winning numbers to claim the grand prize.
The winning numbers from Wednesday’s drawing were 6, 19, 35, 47, 57, with the Red Powerball number 9. Since no ticket matched all the numbers, the jackpot rolled over. Additionally, no players matched five numbers to win $1 million or more.
The next Powerball drawing will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024. With the jackpot unclaimed, it has grown to an estimated $201 million.
As with other large lottery prizes, winners can choose between an annuity option or a lump-sum payout. The annuity option offers an initial payment followed by 29 annual payments, increasing by 5% each year. The lump-sum option for Saturday’s jackpot would be approximately $100 million. While less than the advertised $201 million, this amount is still significant.
As the next drawing approaches, millions of Americans are expected to try their luck for the massive jackpot. However, it’s important to note the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, with overall odds of winning any prize at 1 in 24.9.
Many Players Win Smaller Prizes
Although the grand prize went unclaimed, several players won substantial prizes in the latest drawing. Eight players matched four white balls and the red Powerball, each winning $50,000. Three players also matched these numbers and opted for the Power Play feature, increasing their prize to $150,000 each.
Additionally, 164 players matched four white balls, winning $100 each. Sixty-nine players used the Power Play option, boosting their prize to $300 each.
Over 264,000 players won $4 in the game’s lowest prize tier.
